Practical examples: How to implement the Insights Cockpit in your everyday life
As a logistics decision-maker, you are challenged every day to keep operations running and set the strategic course at the same time. Our new Insights Cockpit helps you to speed up processes, reduce costs and keep quality high.
With one click you get:
- The planned and actual utilisation of your ramps.
- Analyses filtered by location, time period or partner.
- Transparency about the reliability of your delivery partners.
Thanks to the new functions, you can make better decisions and optimise your processes in a targeted manner.
Key Functionalities
You can find the Insights Cockpit in the navigation menu at the top right. You can use both the old and the new reporting in parallel until the end of March.
How to filter your Insights Cockpit
You can use the filter options to customise your data:
- Date: week, month or user-defined.
- Location: Warehouse locations of your choice.
- Flow of goods: Incoming goods or outgoing goods.
- Partner: Suppliers or forwarders.
💡 Tip: Save your favourite view for quick access. You can find out how to do this in the article ‘Custom View’.
Reduce idle time and overtime
Compare planned and actual workload. A heat map shows you the utilisation over time - ideal for identifying unused capacity.
💡 Tip: Is a ramp barely occupied for months at a time? Consider whether you can adjust the opening hours or schedule staff differently.
2. Minimise demurrage risk
Analyse waiting times for reasons and reduce demurrage charges through better planning.
3. Increase loading and unloading capacities
Improve efficiency by recognising bottlenecks at an early stage.
4. Increase throughput speed
Shorten the time between ‘arriving at the yard’ and ‘leaving the yard’ to reduce costs for you and your partners.
5. Optimise security of supply
Minimise delays and improve planning reliability. Analyse punctuality and increase your lead times in a targeted manner.
Data quality: your key to better insights
The percentage display at the top right of each chart shows you the quality of your data. It also provides information on which status points are used for the calculation.
- Red (0-30 %): There is potential for optimisation.
- Yellow (30-70 %): You are on the right track.
- Green (70-100 %): Your data is great!
How to improve your data quality:
Make an appointment with your Customer Success Manager. You can create optimisation plans together.
Use status points: Setting these points precisely ensures accurate data and facilitates collaboration with partners. Find out more about status points here.
Practical examples: How to use the Insights Cockpit in everyday life
The Insights Cockpit was developed to support you in your daily challenges. Here are three examples of how you can use the functions effectively:
1. Shop floor meetings and strategic team updates
Use the insights to regularly analyse the performance of your locations.
- Topic: Discuss the reliability of your partners and the efficiency of yard utilisation in your shop floor meetings.
- Benefit: The evaluations of punctuality and capacity utilisation give you the basis for developing targeted measures, for example for better personnel planning or optimising ramp utilisation.
- Example: The heat map shows you that a certain day of the week is always overloaded. You could adjust the planning so that deliveries are distributed more evenly.
2. Negotiations and escalations with delivery partners
When it comes to improving the performance of your partners, the Insights Cockpit provides tangible data.
- Topic: Negotiate with forwarders or suppliers on the basis of clear facts. The reports reliably show which partners frequently cause delays or unplanned cancellations.
- Benefit: You can use the data to conduct escalations objectively and jointly develop measures for improvement.
- Example: A haulier has repeatedly caused delays of more than 30 minutes in the last six months. You can use the punctuality data to document this and suggest measures such as earlier departure times or better communication processes.
3. Compare and optimise locations company-wide [available soon]
You can not only analyse your own locations, but also compare them company-wide.
- Topic: Use standardised metrics to identify weaknesses and best practices within your group of companies.
- Benefit: By comparing the KPIs, you can drive optimisation across locations.
- Example: One location consistently achieves a throughput time of less than 2 hours, while another is at 3 hours. By comparing the processes, you can find out which measures could contribute to increasing efficiency, such as better shift planning or targeted partner management.
